Wills, Jones Assault Pikes Peak

Colorado Springs handcyclist, Drew Wills, rode up Pikes Peak today, as a part of the inaugural "Assault on the Peak" event. Wills finished the steep, 24.5 mile climb -- which includes long sections of dirt road -- in 6 hours and 11 minutes, proving yet again that there really aren't many obstacles nowadays for people with spinal cord injuries.

Also completing the climb today was another Paralympic cyclist, Allison Jones, a Paralympic medalist and an OTC resident athlete. Jones -- who is an above the knee amputee and riides a two-wheeled bike -- finished in 4:30 minutes.Read More...

USA CYCLING AND US HANDCYCING ROLL INTO ANDERSON FOR THE 2nd ANNUAL TOUR DE LA FRANCE ON LABOR DAY WEEKEND

ANDERSON, SC—On Saturday, September 4th, Anderson County’s streets will fill with cyclists of all ages and abilities. The 2010 Tour de La France has been sanctioned by the USA Cycling Association as well as the US Handcycling Association. Last year’s ride had more than 100 riders and raised in excess of $7,000 for the Cancer Association of Anderson. The 2nd Annual Tour de La France promises even more excitement, offering something for everyone.

At 8 am, cyclist will gather at the La France Elementary School to begin their ride. Some riders will choose the Family Fun Ride, a 14.8 mile route into Downtown Anderson, while the die-hard cyclists will enjoy the Tour de La France Challenge Ride, a 40-mile scenic tour through Anderson County’s beautiful country-side.
